WHAT IS MOLECULE?

Molecule is a project development scheme that offers space, resource, conversation and three hundred pound to artists seeking a platform for work in the early stages of development.

It is open to Welsh and International participants, and aims to assist the creation and development of new work that falls under the category of ‘Theatre’ ‘Performance’ or ‘Live Art’.

Working alongside The Project Space, an unconventional arts space that exists on two floors of an empty retail space in Newport city centre, with support from National Theatre Wales: TEAM, we aim to run Molecule twice a year, a Summer Cell, and a Winter Cell, offering two groups/individuals up to two weeks of space, dependent on the artist’s needs.

By inviting artists to make work in this un-conventional, but inspirational space we hope to encourage people to consider Newport as a place that can enrich and empower artists to create new work in a city that is currently battling to retain it’s arts and culture due to austerity.

Artists will have residency for 1o days. At the end of their time they will have the opportunity to perform a scratch/sharing in front of an invited audience and members of the genral public.
