Nalukatak - R&D Sharing 22.04.16 nofitstate

Dear Community members,

We would like to invite you to an R & D sharing of Nalukatak by Max Calaf Sevé company. Max Calaf Sevé is a contemporary circus company based in London. Max works on trampoline, combining object manipulation and physical theatre to create intimate worlds.

Nalukatak is a new research and development drawing on the ancient traditions of the trampoline and the "Nalukatak," the Inuit festival of the melting of the ice, where people were "tossed up" in celebration. It explores the tension of living on ice, the long wait for the sea to bring fish or driftwood, using masks to reveal the inner self, and the different emotions that "tossing up" a person can invoke. It is both comic, dark and experimental.

Nalukatak is a collaboration with artist Mark Storor, musician Bryan Duffy and designer Jonathan van Beek. This is an early stage R & D sharing of some of the ideas that we have stared working on, and we would love you to give us your feedback.

"There is an explosion upwards, a moment of suspension in the air where you are weightless, ecstatic, free. But the higher the jump the greater the fall. The trampoline can be a monster"
