NTW Executive Producer Lucy Davies has been appointed Executive Director at The Royal Court Theatre

Lucy Davies, Executive Producer at National Theatre Wales since its launch, is to leave the company next year to become Executive Director at the Royal Court Theatre, London.

She will take up her new post in April 2013, joining Vicky Featherstone as she succeeds the Royal Court’s current Artistic Director Dominic Cooke.

Lucy worked alongside NTW Artistic Director John McGrath on the founding executive team of National Theatre Wales, launching the company in 2009 and going on to produce 22 shows including The Passion, The Persians, Coriolan/us, and a wide range other ambitious projects including partnerships with companies such as Frantic Assembly, Rimini Protokoll, Told by an Idiot and Fevered Sleep.

Before moving to Wales, Lucy worked as Executive Producer at the Donmar Warehouse, and prior to this she was Head of Studio at the National Theatre between under Nicholas Hytner, as well as working as Literary Manager at the Donmar Warehouse in the 90s, and a five-year stint in the film industry, commissioning, developing and working on feature films. She started her career as an Assistant Director at Kneehigh Theatre.

Lucy said: "The past four years at National Theatre Wales have been the most memorable, inspirational adventure - I have worked with some outstanding colleagues and made some incredible friends. It has been a complete privilege, every moment. I have no doubt that the company will continue to surprise, inspire, and flourish under John's visionary leadership."

John McGrath added: “On behalf of everyone at National Theatre Wales, our huge congratulations to Lucy on her new role as Executive Director at the Royal Court, and congratulations also to the Royal Court on making such an exciting appointment. Lucy has been absolutely intrinsic to everything that has been achieved at National Theatre Wales: as Executive Producer of all of our work, and one of the founding leaders of the company, she has inspired all of us with her vision of theatre. Without Lucy's expertise, joyful embrace of the unknown, and rare combination of creativity and practicality, our productions simply wouldn't have had the success they have. The partnership between Lucy and Vicky at the Royal Court is a truly exciting new chapter for British theatre.“

All staff at NTW are incredibly sad to see her go, but are so proud of our Lucy. We'll miss you!
