Opportunity for a 50+ Female Performer

Female Welsh Performer 50+

Orphaned Limbs Collective is an artist group with an exciting interdisciplinary project looking for a South Wales-based female performer 50+, versed in both dance and physical theatre. The prospective candidate would ideally be willing to join us during research and development stages as well as touring the project with us in late 2017-18 (dates to be discussed).

Our project, ‘when in roam’, involves dance, physical theatre, aerial harness, music composition and video projection. It has been developed over seven sites in Wales, Scotland, Madrid and Puerto Rico, will be finalising development in August 2017 and launching touring in Wales in late 2017-18. For more information on the project and its trajectory, please visit this link: when in roam

We are looking for someone driven, passionate and collaborative, who is willing to commit to the project on a sessional basis (week residencies and festival/performances).

Essential qualities:

  • Experience of devising, memorising and working with dance/movement and text
  • Professional or semi-professional background
  • Flexibility and adaptability to working with artists of different disciplines
  • Fluent in Welsh

Desirable qualities:

  • Experience running arts workshops and working with communities
  • Prior experience of site-specific or site-responsive work

The candidate would need to be available the week of 21-27 August for a residency week in Swansea with performances in Cardiff. The daily rate would be £100/day (approximately 5 days work). Hours/work days and travel to be discussed according to availability and demands of the project. There are particular dates for future performances rather than extended touring period dates, and therefore the position would be sessional. Please send us your CV with a short statement (250-500 words) describing why you would like to be involved in the project by 5pm on 25 July. You are welcome to send us samples of your previous work or video links supporting your application. Interviews will be held on the week commencing 7 August. Please contact Thania Acarón, co-artistic director for Orphaned Limbs Collective, for further information: orphanedlimbs@gmail.com, mobile 07787034072.
