Rehearsal week has arrived! It’s great to be in the rehearsal room in Swansea Metropolitan and to meet the first group of people to work on the project. This week the core group of actors have all assembled with Viv our director and Gemma Thomas our Stage Manager.

After the initial getting to know one another the real work begins. In 7 days we’ll be performing in front of an expectant Taliesin audience, and we don’t want to disappoint. A bed, a traffic cone and a flying window are just some of the things we can guarantee you’ll see.

Edward Thomas’ writing has already started jumping off the page as our all-Welsh cast are revelling in the insider knowledge they have of our quirky natives.

Today was a good day, but difficult, with lots of tricky corners of direction being tackled and the need to go and pick up a selection of props and random pieces of furniture, disrupting our van driving actors. We carried mattresses, settees and chests up 4 flights of stairs, ready for our first run tomorrow; only to discover we have been moved to a new location for rehearsals - so back down the stairs it all went!

I am looking forward to seeing the first run tomorrow, as I have only seen snippets of the material being created. It will be interesting to see how the collage of scenes is working together. Not so much looking forward to the painting of chairs - but it has to be done!

'Out of the Goldfish Bowl' performs at the Taliesin Arts Centre on September 10th - tickets are available from the box office - 01792 602060.
