Seeking Cardiff Based Artists - Meet Up with Japanese Artists in mid August

Two Japanese artists, Underground Airport and Yo Nakamura are invited for this year's Wales Lab project.

The theater collective, Underground Airport, will be heading North to Anglesey to do some research on the Wylfa Nuclear Power Station and its sociocultural effect on the local residents. Yo will be heading West, near Lampeter, to work on her choreographic project focusing on the relationship of memory and native land.

They are all very excited about the project, but also a bit worried about the visit as their knowledge about Wales do not go beyond some readings and substantial Googling! So, before actually heading off to their research, they are requesting to have a chat with some Welsh artists who could provide them with some local knowledge.

Specifically, Yo and Underground Airport are in search for artists who fit into the below noted categories:

  • Yo Nakamura is in search for...

1  A contemporary dancer and/or choreographer living and working in Cardiff.

2  An artist who have abundant knowledge about Lampeter.

  • Underground Airport is in search for...

1  An writer or playwright who has done research about legends in Snowdonia.

2  A historian or a scholar specializing in Welsh Myth.

The meet-up with take place between 15 August and 17 August in Cardiff.

If you seem like the right fit for any of the categories, or if you know someone who can assist the Japanese artists, please do get in touch with me so that we could arrange a small chat in Cardiff.

I hope that the meet up will be fruitful to both parties. As much as the young Japanese artists want to learn more about Wales, they are willing to share cultural insights and artistic visions fresh out of Tokyo!
