Skill Swap and Workout debut in Ceredigion

The post-it notes are packed away and the databases are up-to-date, so all that remains for me to do now is to say a massive THANK YOU to TEAM (especially Rhoda, Di and Dev) for supporting us taking TEAM Workout and Skill Swap to the wonderful Small World Theatre in Ceredigion.

We were overwhelmed by the fact that every single participant had come with a brilliant project to work on, collaborate with other on and generally 'workout'. It was definitely the first time we can remember there being 100% of participants bringing projects. West Wales is clearly the place to go if you want a brilliant creative idea (or to meet someone else to has one)! What was particularly exciting was the diversity of projects. In one room we had physical theatre improvisation of birds exploring the themes of migration and language, whilst next door they were working on fine tuning a poets monologues for performance. We also simultaneously had shadow puppets and poetry in the gorgeous dance studio space while development was taking place on a Cliff Richard inspired musical just the other side of the door, as well as a 2 person play set in space. That is what I love most about the Workout section of the event. Watching people really get stuck in to all the brilliant ideas that come through the door. It's always wonderful to see people collaborate on projects or styles that are completely outside their normal creative practice, and in doing so really enrich the project from a different perspective and skill set. Likewise, many participants come away with new ideas because of the different arts forms or styles hat they have collaborated on, and this goes on to inform their future projects. Having an illustrator, poet and actor in one room is always going to produce something exciting. To all participants, thank you for being so generous in your play and in sharing your ideas. To anyone who wasn't able to make it, and who is now thinking 'I fancy getting creative with folks like that' - keep an eye out for our next event. If you feel like your area would benefit from a TEAM Workout or Skill Swap event, let us know! We love connecting practitioners from all over our beautiful country.

I didn't make lots of beautiful photos, as I was having far too much fun being a pigeon and then making shadow puppets out of spoons and cereal boxes (and who wouldn't!), but Di is far more wonderful at those sort of things and has added some fa ones to her blog here. Go and have a peek, and keep an eye on Di's blogs for other brill events happening in Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
