A conference was held in March about sustainable theatre.

Hosted by White Light and Julie's Bicycle a lot of suppliers attended from set recycling companies to solar powered site lighting suppliers.   My favourite was a man who takes a pedel powered projector around Africa showing films in villages that have never had electricity.

There was an accompanying conference where theatre designers, set construction companies, festival organisers and lighting suppliers discussed how they are trying to cut back on their emissions.

The conference was opened by Alison Tickell, the CEO of Julie's Bicycle who give an impressive if ultimately depressing opening speech.

Have a look at here opening speech here:

I am really looking forward to the sustainable theatre entries,   there have been some good ones over the years and  these should be really interesting
