Valleys Kids is seeking a Part-Time, Freelance

Visual Collaborator / Designer for the Mzansi Cymru Project

Mzansi Cymru is a major arts project spearheaded by Valleys Kids and supported by the Legacy Trust UK, that will link the people and communities of the South Wales Valleys and the townships in Cape Town, South Africa, culminating in a large scale music theatre performance as part of Wales Cultural Olympiad. 

The final performances will take place in the Donald Gordon Theatre, Wales Millenium Centre, Cardiff on the 20^th – 21^st July 2012.

Valleys Kids is seeking a visual collaborator/designer and community practitioner to join the Creative Team now on a freelance, part time basis to develop the community participatory potential of the project. The Team currently consists of:

            Laurence Allan –       Artistic Co-ordinator/Writer

            Paula Gardiner –       Composer/Musical Director

            Sarah Cole                Production Consultant

            Denise Lord               Project Co-ordinator

The project is currently working on a number of fronts in the South Wales Valleys to engage local people of all ages to become active participants, embracing music, song, dram, dance, art & craft, photography and writing.

The Visual Collaborator will come on board immediately on a freelance and part-time basis to: 

• work with Creative Team to develop a visual concept 
• facilitate collaboration with South African partners  
• plan and implement design / practical / making workshops to engage local community participants of all ages in the project 
• be responsible for the final design/visuals of the production in the WMC
• explore creative opportunities to showcase elements of the production between now and its culmination in Summer 2012 
• work within the financial parameters of the project.
