I agree, the formulation of the question implies that the debate focuses on where to look for good writers (in the woods, next to water etc...)and not how to develop good writers.
I believe there will be a much wider and bolder (particularly if you are there) discussion and that it is worth going to hear John and Lucy's take on this matter and make yourself heard!
Regarding your question about where to find good directors, they tend to live in cities, bite their nails or used to bite their nails or are in the process of stopping biting their nails,like dark chocolate, scandalous attitudes...
