House for Sale by Theatr Ffynnon

Directed by James Williams

Choreographer, Aleksandra Jones

“An angel passed by. They are our memories. They are our remembering!”

You are invited to an open viewing on Friday 1st or 2, Friday 8 or 9thNovember at 6pm or 7.30pm.

Elaborate and exquisite stories are revealed in this elegant south facing property with some period features.  As you would expect in a property of this age there are some cracks and evidence of subsidence but we prefer to call them laugh lines.

Memories of past and present are brought to life in this site specific project where each room tells a different story.  A pair of maids prepare a ceremonial cup of tea, a man dreams of his golfing days, a daughter waits to see if her mother will ever return home whilst she is watched by three shadowy figures.  Funny, moving, with live music, drama and dance, “House for Sale” is about our sense of community and our need to belong.

“This production is about community and that sense of belonging we all wish to feel. What does community mean to you or I, in particular what does it mean to the members Theatr ffynnon work with? How do we create that sense of belonging; is it through family-ties, heritage, neighbourly interaction, our respective languages, cultural influences and diversity. What part can, and do our memories play in creating that sense of belonging?”

The journey to the property is short but please come prepared for outdoor weather.  Please also come prepared for an unforgettable world of delight!

Theatr Ffynnon is a unique Community Arts Theatre Company working primarily with young people and adults with learning difficultiesThere are 30 performers, (members of Theatr Ffynnon) from Risca, Abergavenny and Chepstow involved in this project and production, who have been working on creating & developing ideas for this site specific performance since February 2013. In addition to the Creative Director, James Williams, Aleksandra Jones, a choreographer from Serbia has been working with our members on dance & movement. “Aeth angel heibio. Dyma ein hatgofion. Dyma ein cofio!”

Gwahoddir chi i ddod i gael golwg nos Wener 1 neu 2, nos Wener 8 neu 9 Tachwedd am chwech o’r gloch neu hanner awr wedi saith.

Dadlennir straeon cywrain a choeth yn yr eiddo cain hwn sy’n wynebu tua’r de a chanddo rai nodweddion cyfnod.  Fel y disgwyliech chi o eiddo o’r oedran hwn mae yna rai craciau ac ôl ymsuddo ond mae’n well gennym ni eu galw’n grychau chwerthin.

Deffroir yn y cof y gorffennol a’r presennol yn y cywaith safle-benodol hwn lle mae pob ystafell yn adrodd stori wahanol. Mae dwy forwyn yn hwylio cwpanaid o de defodol, breuddwydia dyn am ei ddyddiau ar y maes golff, erys merch i weld a ddaw ei mam fyth adre’n ôl tra mae tri ffigur cysgodol yn ei gwylio.  Yn ddigri, yn wefreiddiol, ac iddo gerddoriaeth fyw, drama a dawns, ein teimlad o fro sydd wrth graidd “Ty^ ar Werth” ac angen perthyn.

“Y fro sydd wrth graidd y cynhyrchiad yma, a’r synnwyr hwnnw o berthyn sydd arnom oll eisiau’i deimlo. Beth mae bro yn ei olygu i chi neu i mi, yn neilltuol beth mae’n ei olygu i’r aelodau mae Theatr Ffynnon yn gweithio gyda nhw? Sut rydyn ni’n creu’r teimlad hwnnw o berthyn; ai drwy rwymau teuluol, treftadaeth, cymdeithasu â’n cymdogion, ein gwahanol ieithoedd, dylanwadau diwylliannol ac amrywiaeth. Pa ran y gall, ac y mae, ein hatgofion yn ei chwarae wrth y gwaith o greu’r teimlad hwnnw o berthyn?”

Does fawr o waith cerdded i’r eiddo ond cofiwch ddod dan ddisgwyl tywydd awyr agored.  A chofiwch ddod dan ddisgwyl hefyd fyd bythgofiadwy o hyfrydwch!

Cwmni Theatr Celfyddydau Cymuned dihafal ydi Theatr Ffynnon sy’n gweithio’n bennaf gyda phobol ifanc ac oedolion ag anawsterau dysgu. Yn rhan o’r cywaith a’r cynhyrchiad yma mae yna 30 o berfformwyr (aelodau o Theatr Ffynnon) o Risga, Y Fenni a Chas-gwent, sy’n gweithio ar greu a datblygu syniadau i’r perfformiad safle-benodol yma ers Chwefror 2013. Yn ogystal â’r Cyfarwyddwr Creadigol, James Williams, bu Aleksandra Jones, coreograffydd o Serbia, yn gweithio gyda’n haelodau ar ddawns a symud. Bu Emily Haughton, canwr ffliwt anhygoel o ddawnus o Fryste, yn gweithio gyda’r aelodau ar greu cyfansoddiadau newydd i gefnogi’r darnau, ynghyd â gwaith byrfyfyr a ddatblygwyd yn y gweithdai dros y cyfnod hwn.
