Hiraeth - Fiddler / Violinist Needed for Tour - Paid

Hello,

I am currently looking for a Fiddler / Violinst who has experience of playing folk and twmpath/ceilidh music for October/November 2014 for a Welsh Tour visiting traditional theatre venues and rural venues such as village halls, etc . . .

The production is for a show called Hiraeth, which had great success at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year:

In 1989, a farmer’s wife gave birth to a girl named Buddug James Jones. In that moment, she became heir to the family’s three hundred year old farming dynasty.

Wrestling with the knowledge that her departure sounds the death knell for the family farm, Bud sets out alone into the big smoke. With live music and Welsh cakes,Hiraeth explores the decline of Welsh tradition and identity through one woman’s struggle to escape and let go.

Must be available from the 20th October until the 16th November 2014. We will spend the 20th-24th of October rehearsing in Cardiff.

The fee is £430 per week and accommodation, per diems and transport will be provided by the company.

This tour has been funded by the Arts Council of Wales and supported by the Wales Millennium Centre.

If you are interested please email sarahjane.leigh87@gmail.com tell us about why you are suitable and would like to be considered for the position (if you have a cv it would be great if you could send it) and a short exert of you playing a song which would be appropriate for a twmpath or ceilidh.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes

Sarah
