Accomplished Actors Sought for 'Tent of Xerxes'

Tent of Xerxes, a brand new production company based in Swansea, are looking for two exceptional actors for the parts of Dan and Paul in The Body of an American, by Dan O'Brien.

A biographical docu-drama, the play, with a cast of two, nevertheless demands much of its actors as over twenty characters are brought to life during the meeting of the play's author, and the Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Paul Watson. Drammatically, the play revolves around the themes of responsibility and guilt, as Watson lives with the burden of having taken the photograph of the dead American marine of the title, and, in particular, with its impact on the soldier's family and, peripherally, US foreign policy. The author, meanwhile, struggles with unresolved childhood issues, which surface when his interest in the older man becomes a light shone back on himself.

Please note. We would especially welcome interest from mature actors, as the part of Paul requires a man in his late 40s/early 50s.

This play has now been cast, and is being directed by Michael Kelligan - we will be looking for an actor able to play early to mid twenties, for our one man play "Johnny Got His Gun" being produced at the Arts Wing of Swansea's Grand Theatre in July
