Box Office Manager - Job Specification 

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and confident individual for the role of Box Office Manager for National Theatre Wales’s upcoming production Mother Courage and her Children in Merthyr Tydfil from 6 - 22 May 2015.

As well as taking the position of Box Office Manager, you will also be an ambassador for National Theatre Wales and be the first point of contact for audiences at the box office.

You will need to attend a full Box Office and FOH team training session from the production’s Front of House Manager on 5 May so that you are ready to begin working on the 6 May.

This is a freelance position for the duration of the Mother Courage and Her Children performances only. You shall have the status of a self employed person and shall not be entitled to any pension, holiday pay, sick pay, redundancy pay or any other fringe benefits from NTW. In accordance with this, you shall be wholly responsible for all taxes, National Insurance or similar contributions, which may be payable out of, or in respect of, any fees or other monies connected to this agreement.

The hourly rate for the role is £12 per hour - your working hours are likely to be 4 hours per performance (for example 6.30pm-10.30pm for an evening performance TBC)

Responsibilities:
Work closely with NTW’s Communications Officer to plan and execute the Box Office at 
every Mother Courage and Her Children performance
Organise and manage the Box Office assistants
Manage audience arrival and cash sales on the door at every performance
Work closely with Front of House and Production teams to ensure smooth running of performances & audience experience
Cash up and reconcile sales at the end of each performance, taking responsibility for the 
cash float.
To ensure any issues concerning customer care are reported to the Production Manager
Ensure the standards of presentation for the box office area are excellent
To ensure all Health & Safety procedures are effectively carried out

Person Specification:

Essential:
Experience of working as part of a box office team
Excellent event management and planning skills
Excellent customer service skills
Experience with cash handling and cashing up
Excellent communications skills  
Excellent interpersonal skills  
Administrative skills  
Ability to work effectively within a team setting

Desirable:
Experience managing a box office team
Full UK Driving License
Knowledge of National Theatre Wales and its work 
First Aid qualified
Ability to work through the medium of Welsh
