Clown and Devising Theatre workshops led by Spymonkey
in collaboration with Hijinx

This November, physical comedy specialists Spymonkey will be running two week-long workshops in collaboration with Hijinx for arts practitioners who want to develop their skills. The Spymonkey team will be providing an introduction to their distinctive clowning and devising techniques, using 'Jason and the Argonauts' as a story framework. 

Applications are now being taken to join the North and South Wales courses.

The first course will be held in Cardiff (16-20 November) and led by Aitur Basauri, Petra Massey and Toby Park, and this will be followed immediately by a week-long course in North Wales (23-27 November) led by Aitur and Petra.

Inclusive working

Like all Hijinx Residencies, the courses will operate inclusively, with a number of places at each course allocated to Hijinx Academy students, Hijinx’s training programme for talented learning disabled actors.

Funded by the Arts Council of Wales, Hijinx Residencies were established in 2012 to provide high level skills training to arts practitioners both with and without disabilities, by some of the most well respected performing arts companies in the UK. To date, companies such as Complicite, Frantic Assembly, Punchdrunk Enrichment, Ockham’s Razor and Cardboard Citizens have taken part.

23-27 November: Rhyl/Prestatyn (location tbc)
Price: £150 for a week
