Life in a Small-Scale Theatre Company - Aberystwyth Mon Amour (Casting)

Casting Breakdown - Aberystwyth Mon Amour

Lighthouse Theatre in Swansea is casting the following roles in its forthcoming theatre tour of Malcolm Pryce's adaptation of his Welsh Noir cult novel Aberystwyth Mon Amour

The script is a world premiere and follows Louie Knight - Aberystwyth’s only private detective - for 24 hours, as he unravels the case of the missing schoolboy, Evans the Boot, and uncovers a plot which threatens the very existence of Aberystwyth itself.

The engagement is for three weeks of rehearsals and three weeks of touring from base. The tour is mainly one-nighters throughout Wales including Swansea Grand Arts Wing; The Castle Theatre, Aberystwyth; The Hafren, Newtown; The Pontardawe Arts Centre; The Neuadd Dwyfor, Pwllheli; The Lyric, Carmarthen and The Congress Theatre, Cwmbran.  Actors will be expected to assist in get-ins and get-outs and a Swansea/South Wales base for the duration is essential.

A company wage of £393.00 per week is offered. This is not an Equity contract.

We are looking for versatile actors who are great company members with excellent comedy skills who can bring to life the extraordinary world of the novel.  All characters have native Welsh accents

Director: Abigail Anderson

Overall dates: August 30th – October 8th 2016.

Auditions in the Swansea Grand Theatre on May 31st, and June 1st  and 2nd.

Closing Date for Applications – 20th May 2016.

Calamity Jane - F 18 - 25.

Louie's 15 year old side-kick and aspiring detective. Tomboy trying to be a tough wise-cracker, but still just a school kid underneath. Doubles with Brainbocs, the nerdy school-boy criminal mastermind.

Herod Jenkins – M 55 – 65.

The school games teacher of your nightmares and Louie’s nemesis. A sadistic bully and military enthusiast who enjoys terrorising his charges. A bruising presence in league with the Druids, and with designs on controlling the town.
