Gwanwyn Festival 2020: Gwanwyn Community Grant Scheme

Gwanwyn is a month-long national festival held across Wales in May each year celebrating creativity in older age. The festival began in 2007 and is supported by Arts Council of Wales and Welsh Government.

Gwanwyn, which means spring in Welsh, celebrates older age as a time of opportunity for renewal, growth and creativity. Our aim is to offer opportunities for greater participation by older people in the arts, whether visual arts, drama, storytelling, music, literature, photography, dance or film.

Gwanwyn operates a Community Grant Scheme to assist organisations that wish to participate in the festival.

We are keen to include as many different kinds of cultural and community organisations as possible and participating organisations have ranged from theatre venues and museums to care homes and community centres.

Organisers contribute anything you can think of – painting, photography, theatre, dance, creative writing, film, storytelling, workshops, performances, exhibitions, networking events, discussions and much more.

We would request that you only apply for the sum of money which is absolutely necessary for your event. Simply put – if you only need £250 please apply for £250 (max £500). This will enable us to maximise the number of events we can support.

To be eligible for consideration for one of these community grants, you will need to ensure that your funding application form is received at the latest by Friday 6 December 2019.

Applications will be reviewed in December and successful applicants will be notified in early January. Projects will need to be delivered during May 2020.
