when is the comedy festival?

Comment by Justin Teddy Cliffe on August 30, 2012 at 23:49

Hello! I'm actually being amazingly rude here, and I hope you'll forgive me. I'm plugging an opportunity for performers to show work at Comedy Port, Newports annual Comedy Festival.

I'm currently programming The Riverfront Theatre's sister Venue "John Frost's Submarine" (A submarine we're going to build and programme work in in John Frost Square Newport) and I'm looking for comedians, solo performers, sketch groups, theatre companies with comedy shows, bands, tributes or anything performance funny! Weather your performance is 10mins or 2hours, well polished or currently unperformed let me know about it! No stipulations, to restrictions, just apply!

If your interested get in touch by emailing: tinshedtheatre@gmx.com and putting in the subject bar "John Frosts Submarine"

Cheers!

If you substitute director/ writer/ theatre maker for scientist into this quote it would seem spot on to me:

“People sometimes think that scientists have to be clever, nothing could be further from the truth. What you have to have, if you want to be a scientist, is you need a lot of determination and perseverance: you just have to keep on going.” Frances Ashcroft

We are looking for talented, confident, fun and creative individuals who like a challenge!

From Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd July Sherman Cymru is being taken over by 20 writers, 10 directors and numerous  actors for the Sherman Swingers event. Each writer will be given a space in the building which they have 12 hours (Friday night) to write a 3 minute script in response to. During the Saturday the directors and actors will rehearse the pieces and on the Sunday they will all be performed in the space they were written for.

We NEED YOU if you would like to be involved in this exciting event as an Assistant Director! Assistant Directors will be responsible for managing a space in the building where the writers 3 minute scripts will be performed, you will also help actors to run lines and be in charge of rehearsals when your Director is having to work with another group.

In true 'Swingers' style you will also be required to dress up to bring a more performative element to the event as a whole.

As Assistant Directors the commitment would be:
From 7pm on the Friday night.

10am-9.30pm on Sunday (with 2pm dress rehearsal and performances from 5pm)
