Hi Gemma, I was really interested in your idea of starting a street theatre group below. We would be really delighted if you wanted to use a cart in our Market Place at World Stage Design to get the ball rolling. Carts can be booked for anything from a couple of hours to a week and we really hope that it will be a place where new projects start. So far we are delighted with the variety of responses to this project from companies who want to try performing inside one to those who want to promote their services or test the idea of coworking spaces for creatives in this international setting. So, if you have that spark of an idea that's been sitting in your imagination for a while, get in touch designasperformance@wsd2013 putting MARKETPLACE in the subject line and we can arrange to have a chat.

okay here goes..this was a film that I did earlier this year. It is a docu drama and hopes to be entertaining as well as raising a serious point about Veterans struggling with PTSD and integrating themselves back into our communities.

I've have had positive feedback from friends but they are 'friends' after all. let know what you think......Nigel

Hi all,

I'm really pleased to be able to tell you that WalesLab is now taking new submissions. (I'm really excited about this)

If you haven't applied before then there is also information for you about how to get involved, the first step is to join the WalesLab group, so if you haven't yet, now is your chance.

The other development (which I am really pleased about) is that we can now take submissions ALL YEAR ROUND. Join the WaleLab group to find out more information or give me a shout on here if you have any questions.

The Market Place at World Stage Design, Royal Welsh College 8th -14th September.

As part of World Stage Design www,wsd2013.com we are creating a Market Place of 15 portable, individually customised street carts. We want to create a vibrant sense of what is happening locally, nationally and internationally in design and performance, a place to experiment with new work, provoke discussion, debate and interaction. The Market Place launches on 8th September and will run throughout the week until 14th. Carts are free to book for half a day, a whole day or for the full week and can be used around the campus or in the city itself. We really want to celebrate and share what is going on in Wales. Customising of carts will start from 12th August so if you have the spark of an idea, a debate you have always wanted to start, a design conundrum you would like to solve or a portable installation or performance you would like to test, we would love to hear from you. More details from designasperformance@wsd2013.com putting MARKETPLACE in the subject line.

Fallen

One Friday night an exotic, beautiful man falls from the sky, washing up in the river by a seemingly cursed Welsh farm.  So begins this darkly comic new play from the multi award-winning writer of “Muscle”. When the degenerate farmer and his three adult children discover the corpse the web of guilt and history, which has bound them together, begins to unravel. GROTOWSKI WORKSHOP at Sherman Cymru on 3rd August:

This is a one day workshop for actors, dancers, directors and choreographers exploring ‘fixed and flowing’ performance techniques as practiced by multi award-winning Bulgarian Theatre Company ‘Alma Alter’ who make experimental work influenced by the Poor Theatre philosophy of Jerzy Grotowski.

The workshop will explore physical theatre, choreography and chorus (the fixed) and how they can combine with improvisation, audience interaction and the performer’s impulse (the flowing).

The workshop will be from 10am – 5pm and is free. This is hopefully the first step towards establishing a new company working with these principles. If you could send an email briefly explaining your interest and experience that would be fab.

Early CALL for NATASHA on Saturday July 27th

NATASHA is a full-length libretto for opera exploring global human trafficking.  We are seeking support from interested creatives and strong singers/ performers comfortable with strong material to help us develop this challenging and very exciting project.

On July 27 th we are holding our first workshop (10am-4pm). We have music composed for two scenes and are keen to progress with the parts for voice.

Scene One is a brutal Yacuza ritual in Tokoyo (and a confused discussion about informed consent at an anti-trafficking conference in NY)

Scene Two is a War/ peace keeping zone anywhere in the world. There are interconnected parts from a fighter, a marine captain, an army priest, an Arabic woman and the politic rationalising their perspectives on sex, men and women and life.

Please send expressions of interest to info@janefoxartist.com and for further information.

Thank you

Jane

There's a great offer here from The Egg, in Bath.

If you are interested in making theatre for young audiences, definitely worth getting in touch.

More info below:

The egg theatre seeks writers and theatre-makers for a new three-year writing and dramaturgy scheme.
The egg theatre has received funding from The Leverhulme Trust to develop a specialist Arts Scholarship programme over the next three years. Between 2013 and 2015 the egg theatre will offer 5 Arts Scholarships per annum to talented artists and theatre-makers, providing space and time for ideas to flourish as well as a strategy for developing skills in making work for young audiences.
