Since the company launched it’s first programme, NTW has been supporting budding directors to gain experience and develop their practice. We believe that one of the best ways to do this is by working side by side, in the rehearsal room (or field), with more experienced professionals and observing how they make their work.
Now, for the first time, we are happy to announce two new development opportunities for directors who are ready for the next stage of their careers. And, previous Emerging Directors are welcome to apply!
NTW Assistant Director: Out of Joint (Co-production and Tour)
We are looking for an Assistant Director to work alongside Max Stafford Clark, one of Britain’s most respected and influential Directors, on a forth-coming NTW production. Applicants must have experience of directing at least one, full length, professional production and must be from or currently living/working in Wales.
The Assistant Director will be a key component of the creative team. It is a full time role requiring attendance at all rehearsals, during the production week and for a number of performances in Cardiff and whilst on tour in Wales. There may well be opportunities to be involved in production meetings prior to the official start date of the project.
Key responsibilities of the role:
Rehearsal Dates (London): w/c 12th Jan – 6th Feb 2015

Production week: w/c 16th Feb 2015
Initial Performances: 19th Feb – 7th Mar 2015
The performance will then tour across Wales between the 9th and 29th March 2015.
NTW is offering a £3000 bursary for this position. This should cover any subsistence costs incurred as a result of taking on the role. There is a budget for accommodation and travel which will be managed by NTW.

Key responsibilities of the role while at The Studio:
A full job description from the NT Studio can be found as an attachment at the bottom of this blog post - including salary (£20,800 pro rata), holiday entitlement, relocation subsistence, and pension contributions.
At the end of this contract, the successful applicant will take on the position of Assistant Director on an NTW production in the Summer/Autumn of 2015.

I wish I could!
Hi there, is it integral that we are able to make those specific interview dates please? Is there any way we can attend an interview on a different date? I have a freelance gig in Birmingham on the 31st.
Thanks!
Tamar
These are brilliant opportunities, I urge all the Welsh and Wales based emerging directors to throw themselves, I would have loved to do both x
