The League Of Professional Theatre Women

Information

The League Of Professional Theatre Women

In London I, Caley Powell, am part of a group called The League Of Professional Theatre Women, it was originally created in America but last year a branch was set up in London. The aim of the league is to be a body that seeks to promote visibility and increase opportunities for women in the Professional Theatre.

The group unites all female professionals of the theatrical industry in the UK, to share ideas, news, promote events and support each other's work! We also want to fight for gender parity in the industry and are looking at campaigning for ways to change the industry to create more opportunites for women.

We are on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/484847981569852/ and Twitter @LofPTW

I want to bring the League to Wales, primarily Cardiff first, so am looking for help from any women who can book us a venue to arrange the first meet up for the end of the month and looking for anyone who maybe interested in joining the Welsh branch of the League.

Hi ladies- I interviewed Megan Doherty about her show 'The Girl Who Won't Grow up' for the Forked Theatre podcast (Episode 3). Amoung other things, we talk about growing up with the damsel in distress archetypes, role models and underage drinking! http://www.forkedtheatre.co.uk/#!our-podcast/cqol

Hi. The meeting is this Friday, 28th at The Gower Pub 6-9pm. If you can make it please email me: caleypowellcasting@yahoo.co.uk and please feel free to invite anyone else.
I am considering changing this groups name to Welsh Women In The Arts to expand the group from theatre to also include women who work in film, TV and music and journalism as well so will discuss it in the meeting.

Also please do bring to the meeting your business cards to network and anything you'd want to promote as you'll have a chance to speak if you'd like too.

Thanks and best wishes,

Caley Powell.

 Hi Caley,

Normally Friday is awkward for me but the time on the 28th is a good one (5.30-7.30pm).   Look forward to knowing the venue asap and being part of an exciting new group. Thanks.
