WNO Ticket offer for young people

For the past few months I've been working with WNO on an innovative modern opera all about student activism. This is the biggest project I've ever worked on, and I highly recommend it.

The Unknown Theatre Company; Cardiff’s award winning, dynamic, innovative theatre company (established 1997, with a proven track record of excellence and opportunities)  for young people 13 -25 are holding auditions to join the company for their autumn production of The Snow Queen. 

 

Fresh from the premiere of The True True Story of Quincy Jones at Lefel 1, St David’s Hall, which was part of the Welsh Proms, the company are now making plans for the coming months. 

 

The Snow Queen written by Scott Pryor with Music by James Williams will be performed during the week beginning 10^th December 2013.  James Williams will be directing, with Emma- Jayne Parker co-directing and choreographing. 

 

A workshop for the show will take place at Roath Church House on Tuesday 10^th September 7.00 till 9.30.  It will be an informal evening…a get to know you, then James will workshop some pieces from The Snow Queen and begin to teach some of the songs. 

 

There are 19 roles in the show and auditions will take place on Sunday 15^th September from 2p.m. until about 9p.m.  Further auditions will take place on Tuesday 17^th from 7p.m. until 9.30p.m.  You will need to prepare a song to sing for us that you feel comfortable with and that showcases the range of your voice.  Please bring sheet music with you (or let us know if you are having difficulty sourcing it in case we have a copy).  To book an audition slot please email Jane on jane@unknowntheatre.wanadoo.co.uk or leave a message on our Facebook Group THE UNKNOWN THEATRE COMPANY.  You are also invited to come along on Tuesday 10^th and book your place then.  However in order to secure a time slot that suits you best, you are advised to book your place as soon as possible.

Hi, Actorsworkshop: Junior will be setting up camp at Chapter from Monday August 20th for a week of morning workshops for young people aged between 6 and 16.

SUMMER CAMP FOR 6 - 16 YEAR OLDS

Monday 20th - Friday 24th August

10.00-1.00pm

Chapter

£100 (full price) £50 (concessions)

Actorsworkshop: Junior moves into Chapter in August for a week of fun and creative activities for young people. Each day between Monday 20th and Friday 24th August young people aged 6-16 will take part in acting, singing and dancing workshops, and rehearse a show to be premiered on the final day for family and friends in Chapter's main theatre.

The week is open to existing and new members and no experience is necessary. Each workshop is delivered by a qualified professional within their field of expertise and is fully enhanced CRB checked.

The week is a fun, creative and safe place to meet new friends, learn new skills and appear on stage in a great musical performance.

A 50% deposit is required to secure a place on the summer camp.

Hi Everyone/ bore da pawb.

Really great that so many of you can make the meeting this Friday 20th January at CHAPTER ARTS Centre from 11.30AM- 1.00PM.
The aim is for people to get to know each other and to put names to faces and faces to names and to hopefully kick start TYA Cymru.
We will probably talk in small groups and probably swap around a bit so we all get to meet a range of people. At the moment we have a mix of new companies, freelancers, venue programmers, more established companies,and assorted odd bods all interested in theatre for young audiences in some way.

Come prepared to talk about and even answer questions about :
1) a piece of theatre for children/ young people/young audiences that has blown your mind/ excited you/ stimulated you/ sent shivers up and down your spine etc
2) an element of your practise that you are immensely proud of
3) something personally that you have got from engaging with Assitej International  which may be nothing at all (for those who know nothing about Assitej and TYA UK  look up their websites etc- )

Hi everyone,

We would like to invite you to a GATHERING of people who are interested in and passionate about making, producing, presenting, watching and talking about THEATRE for CHILDREN and YOUNG PEOPLE in Wales.

We'll meet in Chapter Arts Centre Cardiff on 20th January 2012 from 11.30- 1.00 pm.

Participants will be encouraged to talk personally and share experiences about their working practices - what excites them, what drives them, what concerns them.

Nearer the time we will circulate a number of questions for people to ponder and prepare some responses to.

Coming soon will be a ASSITEJ Group on National Theatre Wales website which will mean it's a lot easier to communicate with people.

Hope to see you soon and get in touch if you can make it in January so we have an idea of numbers or if you have any questions or suggestions.
