Event Description

UCAN Create's fourth Masterclass will explore the world of interactive experiences with Bristol based creators Anagram. During the workshop you will explore how the physical and the digital space can be brought together to create unique work that creates emotional connects with audience, space and place.

Anagram is an award-winning creative company based at the Pervasive Media Studio in Bristol, with a talent for producing work that seamlessly brings together the physical and digital world. In the last 12 months they have been commissioned and programmed by the Tower of London, Tribeca Storyscapes, Sheffield DocFest, the Young Vic Theatre,  Birmingham Cathedral, Greenpeace, the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Stoke City Council to produce projects ranging from experiential documentary, through to public art, children’s toys and video games. In a variety of ways, all these projects give participants both immersion into, and agency in, a story.

For their immersive documentary Door Into The Dark, they won the Storyscapes prize for best interactive work at Tribeca Film Festival, 2015. Anagram were selected for the Creative England 50 for 2016.

To be eligible for a place you must be between 16 and 26 years old. These masterclasses are free and there is no need to attend every one although we hope to gather a co-hort who attend most who would go on to co create work for the UCAN festival in July.

ABOUT UCAN CREATE
UCAN Create – Is exciting collaborative project between UCAN Productions and yello brick, which aims to inspire and encourage young people to create and produce their own unique artistic work.

UCAN Productions, an arts organisation for blind and visually impaired young people are partnering with yello brick, a company that create unusual events in everyday spaces, to run a series of masterclasses for professional development within the arts. UCAN Create is offering young people between the ages of 16 - 26 the opportunity to create, produce and showcase their own work. Through a series of masterclasses, participants will be able to learn new skills and techniques from a wide variety of arts practitioners who are working at the cutting edge of their profession.  From new digital practices to theatre in unusual spaces, the programme will offer new ways of thinking creatively about how to make work. In addition, UCAN Create will provide practical advice on how to progress into making a career within the arts in Wales and the UK.
