Urgently looking for two male actros for brand new jazz musical theatre production in February

We are currently looking for two male black actors for a musical theatre production that will take place at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in February.

The project, written and directed by British jazz singer Brigida Melly, will star students from the Jazz course at the college, and the cast and production team also includes students and alumni from the Drama and Design departments as well as external actors and directors. It will be presented at the college by REPCo.

Set in 1948, it aims to capture a snippet of Jazz history through the eyes of an old man, dealing with issues such as slavery, war, racial segregation, crime, and loss. Some of the most famous characters from the swing era will be portrayed within the play, including Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf.

We are currently still looking for two actors for our lead, and a further major part in the production. Both parts are mainly speaking, though there might be some chorus singing involved as well. Age ranges ideally are from 40s to 70s, although we are happy to audition younger actors (20s +).

Some individual rehearsals will be beginning next week (week commencing 14 January) and the performance will be taking place on 13 February 2013 at the Dora Stoutzker Concert Hall at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

This is currently a one-off showcase performance, and we are unable to offer a fee for this particular performance but are hoping to secure funding for a possible tour at a later date.

If you would like to find out more about the project or are interested in auditioning please do not hesitate to contact myself or Brigida directly at
