Event Description

All women and girls are invited to share their favourite writings by women and bring their voices to a community reading aloud event.  Bring a book (prose, poetry, essays, science - whatever you love) to the foyer of National Museum Wales Cardiff by 11.45.  At 12 noon we'll being reading OUT LOUD all at the same time, filling the space with women's words and voices, making alive and aloud a celebration of the achievements of women everywhere. All women and girls welcome to read, everyone welcome to listen.

This is a Flare! event. Flare! is a network of happenings set up by women for women, all taking place on the same date, and at the same time.  Co-created through one-to-one contact the network originated in Cardiff and the Swansea Valley and is now reaching out across South Wales - and much further.  Open events are being organised in Cardiff, Pontardawe, Bridgend, Swansea, Neath and Talley, to name but a few in Wales, and are connecting women as far afield as Ireland, Italy, Germany, Chile and Australia.  Some events are public, some private, some are several hours long, others will last just for the central half an hour, but they'll all be linking up by happening from 12 - 12.30 on Saturday 5th March.  See www.flarewales.com for a map marking all the diverse events, details of what's happening, and to see how far the network has spread.  Flare! was initiated to celebrate the 100th International Women's Day (8th March), so it'd be great if you could come along and join in too somewhere near you.
