Event Description

DO not miss this new dance piece that takes the goings-on at Blaenannerch making and testing DRONES as its starting point, and set against Philip Glass' haunting String Quartet No. 5, Gaza/Blaenannerch considers the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from a fresh perspective- that of another nation striving to assert its identity: Wales.

Eddie Ladd and Judith Roberts are established and celebrated artists, hailing from different backgrounds. They have joined forces to create Gaza/Blaenannerch.

Gaza/Blaenannerch considers our history and our present predicament. It recognises the clear parallels between the situation here in Wales and that in Palestine. It also unearths a series of little known connections between the two territories.

This is a compelling piece of bilingual dance/ theatre. Its strong, clear narrative fames a series of powerful dance pieces and the human body becomes both an expressive tool and a teaching aid. See it in Small World, the closest venue to Blaenannerch

"...a wise, considered and impassioned exploration of nationhood, identity and sovereignty which held a capacity audience at Yorkshire Dance spellbound."

Anthony Dunn, Marketing & Communications Manager, Yorkshire Dance
