Eddie Ladd and Judith Roberts are both celebrated and established artists, hailing from different disciplines. As a theatre director Judith is best known for tackling the likes of Beckett and Miller, while Eddie, a highly physical performer, is renowned for her daring and political pieces.
Set against Philip Glass’s haunting String Quartets Nos. 1 and 5, Gaza/Blaenannerch considers the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from a fresh perspective – that of another nation striving to find its identity: Wales. This is a compelling piece of bilingual dance theatre. Its strong, clear narrative frames a series of powerful dance pieces and the human body becomes both an expressive tool and a teaching aid.
Keep an eye on this page , as we will be uploading footage and images as we get them, to give you a flavour of what to expect.
Phillip Glass' String Quartet No. 1 & 5, will be performed live by The Smith Quartet smithquartet.com
More about De Oscuro
Worldwide artists such as Robert Lepage are demonstrating the power of multilingual stage productions, yet the potential of integrating English and Welsh has never been fully explored. De Oscuro is a new company which champions multilingualism as a creative tool and challenges preconceived ideas both about theatre and language.
