Event Description

Hello,

I would like to inform European Schools and European Socio and Cultural nonprofitmaking Organisations that for the year 2014 has been called the V Edition of “Giorgio Gaber Award for New Generations – Freedom is participation”.

The festival is organised by the cultural institutions “Teatro Stabile di Grosseto” and the “Giorgio Gaber Foundation” established in Milan to promote the preservation and the circulation of the works and artistic heritage of this, now deceased, artist.

The project represents a unique opportunity to permits meeting and exchanges of views between young people with realities and geographically distant cultures and has its basis in a series of theatrical performances and short films (for educational and social goals) planned and set up by young people themselves.

The V Edition will take place from May 8th to May 11th 2014 in the towns of Viareggio e Camaiore (Lucca – Tuscany – Italy) in a single period of 4 days in which all participants will act together and at the same time thanks to Versilia’s higher accomodation capacity and countless prestigious theatres, cinemas and places of entertainment.

In order to financially support the educational activities of the Schools and Socio and Cultural Organisations, has been allocated a total prize money of Euro 13,000.00, which will be distributed among the winners.

Moreover, by virtue of the relevant partnership established with "UNICEF Italy", a special Award in its name will be declared.

The award, or festival, is addressed to:
‐  the Italian schools, of all levels, except nursery schools;
‐ all the European schools, of all levels, except nursery and primary (elementary)schools;
‐ all the Italian and European Cultural Institutions.

The award includes two different section as:Drama and Cinema.

A project submission form is available for download on the award website, filling it in and sending it will be enough to participate in the first selection. The form should contain a brief outline of the project (play or short film) chosen to take part in the competition.

The Schools and Cultural Institutions that will be selected to participate in the final stage of the award, will compete presenting in person their productions (either plays or short films) and taking part in the learning activities that will be organized during the event.
