I'm starting the launch of the latest poetry pamphlet Hanes with a full-on poetry jam/mashup.
This limited-edition, hand stitched pamphlet, designed by Andy Garside, brings together new work as well as pieces previously published in the likes of Dark Mountain, Tears in the Fence and Poetry Wales.
I'm sharing the stage with the Voicebox crowd as well as Jessica Ball and Emmi Manteau to make a proper poetry party of it all.
FREE ENTRY. Merch will definitely be on SALE so this poet can keep up her tattoo and mountainbike habits.
"Sophie writes poems in which strange, old, true things are forced into contact with the present. They twist and turn and you never get quite what you expect from them, which is what gives them their power… some of the most interesting poems I've read in a long while. Genuinely original."
"An allusive, restless sensibility turned outwards to the world; her words have heft, they grasp their way out of poetry into landscape."
"Sophie McKeand embodies her poems in performance, the words flying off the page and flashing like fireflies. The effect is mesmerising and visceral."
ps - if you live a bit far away there's some other launch events in the pipeline over the coming months across Cymru
