“At Clock Tower, we felt there weren’t enough opportunities for local writers to try things out and see how they work in front of an audience. But this is an essential part of the journey to a finished creation. So we came up with Kiln. It is now in its third season, and we are delighted to have been part of the journey of so many contemporary gems.” - Steve Bennett, Executive Director of Clock Tower Theatre Company

Kiln does what it says on the tin: it takes new writing and cooks up a storm. Emerging playwrights are given whatever ingredients they might need, be it actors, a director, or a producer, together with time and space to mould them all together. The final stage of the experiment is exposure to the gentle heat of a warm audience.

Tobias Weatherburn is a Welsh actor, musician and writer. He is currently performing in The Emperor’s New Clothes at the Sherman Cymru.
