Event Description

Robert Bowman plays Gogol's Poprishchin in the one man show of Diary of A Madman. Poprishin is in his 40's - a low ranking civil servant for the Government, struggling to make his mark on life, but one day he makes an amazing discovery. Could he really be the next King of Spain?

Driven insane by government bureaucracy and hierarchy, Gogol's dark comedy exposes one man's reality spiralling deeper into a surreal fantasy world.

Considered by many to be Gogol's best work, Diary of a Madman, is set in St Petersberg, among the petty repressed Tsarist Russia.

Directed by Sinéad Rushe this one man show, performed by Robert Bowman (Sherman Cymru, Bristol Old Vic, RSC) is a timeless piece that explores the human condition when it comes face to face with it's own mortality.

As well as the performance those interested in the Michael Chekhov principle can attend the Group Workshops (Workshop and Ticket £8) - With Sinéad Rushe available on 8th and 9th of October.

Director Sinead, says:
"This project is an exciting opportunity for Robbie Bowman and I to explore together our interest in the Michael Chekhov Technique, an approach which privileges the actor's imagination and the actor's ability to transform."

If you would like to attend both play and workshop please contact Living Pictures on

Tickets for the play are £12 / £10 / £8

Post Show Talk - Friday 7 October with Director and Actor.
