Premiere of the artist’s play (2011-12)
Motherfucker explores the complex roles, positions and perspectives within a relationship. A female director asks a male actor to forge a character whom she wants to meet in order to be able to leave.
As the drama unfolds, so does the shifting control and dependencies. Humiliation and ridicule become tools and raw material. The woman wants to create a character who is a transparently despicable and conniving person.
She gives him direction but wants him to act of his own volition, asking him to take the role of the ‘bastard’, pushing him so that he is no longer acting but becomes the embodiment of the ‘Motherfucker’.
The performance is mixed with live video feed, creating a paradox between the real and mediated video that is simultaneously being projected.
