Welcome to One Way Street, a new adult puppet show supported by the Arts Council of Wales and Small World Theatre’s tribute to film noir touring Wales this year. Recently reviewed as 'part puppet show, part art installation' One Way Street is live theatre for all the senses, with a set inhabited by puppets and animated film projections by artist Sean Vicary. The show is in glorious black and white and contains all the moral ambiguity embodied in the film noir genre.

Encounter the femme fatale and the hard-nosed detective. Just how will the bankers fare in this post-depression tale of greed, lust and intrigue? This startling monochrome experience has subtle layers and changes of pace that transform San Francisco from soft focus to chiaroscuro sharpness and even take the hero on a journey to meet Dylan Thomas and the Kardomah gang.

Sam Stone is a San Francisco private investigator. People come to him to solve their problems. One day a woman walks into his office with what seems to be an open and shut case, but this one’s going to get him into a whole lot of trouble... One Way Street is redolent with the themes and style of the film noir classics. Its convoluted story and intricate plot leads Sam Stone on a tour of the city’s high and low spots. Written and produced by Small World Theatre, this is a show for adults where skilled puppetry and animation will astonish the audience.
