Producers’ Place is a network for producers in Wales. The network aims to strengthen links between people who self-identify as producers in the arts (whether they have that job title or not) to foster dialogue, share ideas and offer practical support to participants.

Our next Producers’ Place is a whole day event. For some time, there has been discussion around how independent artists can deliver their work when producers are so thin on the ground and how the conventional pathways through major organisations are blocked to all but a fortunate few. Different ideas are being mooted and some organisations are re-shaping themselves while seeking funds to address this. However, with so many small-scale companies and artists looking for support, it is unlikely to be enough. And, with resources at a premium, it is hard for even successful project-funded companies to dedicate precious funding to the many different functions that are required of them.

Producers Place would like to spend some time with you looking at ideas for a collaborative approach to artist support and production – where a diverse range of producing skills are part of the DNA of the organisation but where everyone gets better by sharing.
