Event Description

Cynhyrchiad newydd gan yr artist Sean Edwards, mewn partneriaeth â Tŷ Pawb, Wrecsam ar gyfer Cymru yn Fenis 2019

A new production by artist Sean Edwards, in partnership with Tŷ Pawb, Wrexham for Cymru yn Fenis/Wales in Venice 2019

#WALESINVENICE

Bydd y gwaith newydd hwn yn ddrama radio arbrofol, a bydd yn elfen allweddol o gyflwyniad unigol Edwards ar gyfer Cymru yn Fenis 2019, a gomisiynwyd gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru a’i arwain gan Tŷ Pawb, Wrecsam.

Mae’r ddrama yn ymchwiliad barddonol i le, hanes cymdeithasol a dosbarth, wedi’i gydblethu â hanes personol yr artist. Bydd y sgript ar ffurf cywaith o destun a ddarganfyddir a lleisiau go iawn. Gyrrir y penderfyniad i ddefnyddio hunangofiant gan gred Edwards y gallwch greu fwy o gysylltiad gyda’r gynulleidfa drwy gynnwys y ‘fersiwn fwyaf gonest’ ohonoch chi’ch hun.

Drwy’r gwaith, mae Edwards yn bwriadu cipio a throsi cyflwr o ‘beidio â disgwyl gormod’ – ymadrodd y mae’n ei ddefnyddio i ddarlunio ffordd o fyw sy’n adnabyddus i gyfran enfawr o’r boblogaeth yng Nghymru – ffordd o wneud y tro a goroesi.

Bydd rhagor o wybodaeth yn cael ei rhyddhau yn gynnar yn 2019

This new work will be an experimental radio play, and will form a key element of Edwards’ solo presentation for Wales in Venice 2019, commissioned by the Arts Council of Wales and led by Tŷ Pawb, Wrexham.

The play is a poetic enquiry into place, social history and class, intertwined with the artist’s own personal history. The script will be collaged from found text and real voices. The decision to draw on autobiography is driven by Edwards’ belief that you can create a greater connection with the audience through the inclusion of the most ‘honest version’ of yourself.

Through the work, Edwards intends to capture and translate a condition of ‘not expecting much’ – a phrase he uses to evoke a way of living recognisable for a huge proportion of the population in Wales – a way of making do and getting by.

Further details will be announced in the new year.
