This summer’s RAW productions reflect on the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan.
'The first casualty of war is enthusiasm' British Army soldier, Helmand Province, Afghanistan
Afghanistan. A new drama written by a veteran of the Afghan conflict, interwoven with verbatim interviews from others who have served. A snapshot of the humour, fears and effects of current operations, The Sanger is a visceral portrayal of the life of the modern soldier.
How can one take advantage of a terrible loss? What can be gained from tragedy? When a war is just, are there no limits to man’s brutality? A chilling, provocative play that explores the further reaches of war’s atrocity, proving that one man’s pain is another man’s gain. The winning play of the Drama Medal at the National Eisteddfod 2009.
*Welsh language performance
