"What a state they’re all in. And what a lot of loving."
SEAGULLS is the second show created by Volcano Theatre especially for the company’s new home - the atmospheric Bunker Theatre, deep inside the former Iceland freezer-store in Swansea High Street. Experience this unique city-centre venue with our impossibly sad, unreasonably funny and ludicrously inventive version of a moody Russian classic.
A young girl has lived all her life by a lake. Like a seagull, she loves the lake, and she’s happy and free like a seagull. But a man happens to come along and wrecks her life for want of anything better to do.
Chekhov's first spectacular flop, The Seagull, abounds in suicidal moods, pessimistic utterances, unhappy love affairs and broken dreams. Volcano’s SEAGULLS is for everyone who has felt the agony of ordinariness or laughed uncontrollably at the bitter disappointment of it all.
