Event Description

Set in the heart of Swansea City Centre, Tarody is an interactive satire of contemporary issues inspired by the major arcana of the tarot. UWTSD Students and graduates from Contemporary Performance and Fine Arts will respond to intriguing sites in Swansea through creative research on the popular archetypes featured in a tarot deck. Join the search for The Fool, The Tower and The Lovers as this innovative and collaborative performance reimagines Swansea City Centre. Booking link & Welsh version here

Rhys McLellan is a Contemporary Performance graduate who will be taking part in Tarody. He said: “The exhilarating part of site-projects is the unpredictability of the weather and the reactions of the audience.”

Current student Syamala Skinner will also be taking part. She said: "Improvisation and response to site have been key in the progress of this work. This has allowed image theatre to represent our ideas and be the dominating narrative and the site to continue to be the inspiration for the work.”

The performances will take place on 9th May at 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm and on 19th May at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm. They are free of charge and spectators are asked to meet the performers at the university’s Dynevor Buildiing at the stated time. Please note that all performances will take place outdoors. Please bring weather-friendly clothing and shoes suitable for walking.
