Our next production THE MAIDS by JEAN GENET is planned for June 2012 and will be a co-production with The Riverfront, Newport and staged in association with The Torch Theatre, Milford Haven. Profile and Fund Raisers 2012 In order to start building an audience for The Maids, we will be staging a series of profile and fund raisers in The Riverfront Studio between next February and May Wednesday 15th February at 1pm: DARK LOVE & DEEP SONG “theatre is poetry that rises from the book and becomes human enough to talk and shout, weep and despair.” (Lorca 1936) Directed by Hannah O’Leary, Kathryn Dimery, Erica Eirian, Hannah O'Leary, Lisabeth Miles and Olwen Rees will perform readings from Lorca’s plays and poetry and acclaimed mezzo-soprano Buddug Verona James will perform the words and music of Lorca and Manuel de Falla Wednesday 14th March at 1pm: WAR SONGS From the carnage, grief and despair of war, the human spirit emerges. In what promises to be a moving musical celebration of the human spirit, Rosamund Shelley, accompanied by Christopher Littlewood, will perform the words and music of Boubil and Schonberg Brecht, Eisler, Euripides, Kipling, Novello, Sassoon, Schumann and Kurt Weil Wednesday 9th May at 1pm MOTHER TONGUE “What else do we share, but being women?” (from Marged by Gillian Clark) Directed by Betsan Llwyd, Betsan Llwyd, Olwen Rees, Christine Pritchard and Eiry Thomas will perform readings from the poetry, prose and plays of Welsh Women Writers |
