Event Description

Volcano is a show about eruptions and emotions, tension and release, geology, human beings, a pilot and the Righteous Brothers Unchained Melody. It is funny and deadly serious. And it's about letting go.

Join Clerke and Joy as they follow the story of a pilot's personal eruption whilst grounded during the Eyjafjallajökull ash cloud in April 2010. Part performance, part lecture and part school science experiment, they use lo-fi props to recreate gigantic events, and gigantic events to illuminate small lives with pathos and a deep sense of life's absurdity.

Originally developed at University College Falmouth
Commission and Dramaturgy by The Basement supported by The Roddick Foundation
Kindly supported by Arts Council England

Clerke and Joy is an ongoing collaboration between Rachael Clerke and Josephine Joy.
