Audition applications are now open for our latest production: Emily Garside’sDon't Send Flowers.
“Grace and Louis have one thing in common: the thing they don’t want to talk about, so they base their relationship on not talking.
John and Grace are trying to talk about things that matter, not things that don’t.
And everyone is eating cake. But there’s only so long you can avoid the thing that brought you together…”
Characters:
Grace - primary school teacher, playing age 20-30
John - Art academic, playing age 30-40
Lewis - Doctor, playing age 20-30

The deadline for applications is 5pm on the 11th April.
Spaces are still available for the next silent writing retreat.
Zenpens is an exciting new writer’s retreat based in Cardiff City Centre. Adapted from the Writer’s Army workshops lead by the New York playwright Anne Washburn, Zenpens allows writers to concentrate solely on their work in meditative silence.
Zenpens is a one-day silent writers retreat. No phones. No social media. No distractions.
Meeting at 9:45 am for a short debrief and writing exercises, we start working in earnest at 10 am until 1 pm. An hour lunch. Then more silent writing from 2 pm until 6 pm.
The most important rule is that everyone starts and leaves at the same time. It’s a quiet space, but most importantly it’s a space where everyone is working steadily together.
We also ask that people not work during lunch. Periods of not working and switching off completely are vital for overall productivity.
What’s on offer?
A supportive space to begin something new or rehash something old.
New networking possibilities.
Writing exercises to boost creativity.
Free tea and coffee facilities.
How much?
Money collected at the retreat is used to pay for the space and its upkeep. If you can, please pay the suggested donation of £8 or £5 concession.
This sounds right for me, when’s the next one?
Zenpens will be taking place on the 20th April at the John Dennithorne Room, Quaker Meeting House, 43 Charles Street, Cardiff CF10 2GB.
How can I get in touch?
Spaces are limited, so please email your interest to Paul Stoyle at zenpenssilentretreat@gmail.com or visit https://zenpens-silentwritersretreats.yolasite.com/ for more information.
Best wishes,
Zenpens.

Hola / Shwmae / Hi!
Diolch i gefnogaeth Ganolfan Mileniwm Cymru mi fydd Connie Orff yn curadu noson Sgratsh yn llawn Drag yn Stiwdio'r Weston ar nos Iau, Mai 16.
Mi fydd hon yn noson Talwch Be Fynnwch - sy'n cynnig y rhyddid i greu ac archwilio heb y pwysau o gyflwyno 'cynhyrchiad' gorffenedig, felly fydd unryw gyfraniadau gan y gynulledifa'n cael eu rhannu rhwng y perfformwyr ar ddiwedd y noson… A mi fydda i'n ERFYN arnyn nhw i fod yn hael drwy gydol y noson.
Yr hyn ry'n ni'n chwilio amdani yw:
- Perfformwyr Drag fase'n licio archwilio deunydd newydd sbon o flaen cynulleidfa agored a charedig
- Perfformwyr fase'n licio trïo rhwybeth newydd 'Drag-sentrig'
Cwbwl sydd angen yw syniad am berfformiad 8-10 munud mewn unryw fath o steil, mewn unryw iaith (er efallai fydd angen trafod anghenion cyfieithu ayyb), o unryw rhywedd - mae Drag yma'n hynod agored i ddehongliad.
'Sdim angen syniad holl-gyflawn, wedi'i datblygu ar y pwynt hwn - mi fydd gofod ymarfer ar gael yng Nghanolfan Mileniwm Cymru'n nes at yr amser.
Diddordeb?
Plîs danfona ychydig frawddegau ar:
- Pwy wyt ti
- Dy brofiad o Drag hyd yn hyn
- Be licet ti gyflawni trwy fod yn ran o #DragThatScratch

Thanks to Wales Millennium Centre's ongoing support, I (as Connie Orff) will be curating a Drag Scratch night in the Weston Studio on May 16th. It's one of the Centre's awesome Pay What You Like evenings - offering freedom to be creative without the pressure of presenting a finalised/completed production. Any audience donations (which I will be nicely encouraging throughout the evening) will be split between the acts performing.
We're looking for:
- Drag acts who'd like to trial some new material in front of a kind audience
- Performers who have a Drag-centric act they'd just like to try out
All you need is an 8-10 minute performance piece which could be a multitude of styles, in any language (although translation/interpretation support may need to be discussed); you could be of any gender identity - Drag is very open to interpretation here!
You don't need a fully developed & rehearsed piece right now - rehearsal space will be available at Wales Millennium Centre nearer the time.
Please send a few sentences on
- Who you are
- Your experience of Drag so far
- What you'd ideally like to achieve by being a part of #DragThatScratch
to connieorff123@gmail.com
