Composer/sound designer and Live Electronics Ensemble Available for your productions!

Hello!

My name is Sophie Lynch and I am a recent graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
From studying there I have strong experience in providing music and sound design for a range of productions including Fashion Shows, Puppet Shows and Theatrical Installations. I very much enjoyed these projects and would love to pursue the skills I developed from them in professional productions. To hear my sound design and composition skills here is my soundcloud and wesbite:

Furthermore I have a live electronics group, the Provocation Ensemble who I would also love to be involved in a theatrical setting as we have a unique audio/visual experience; We consist of six performers; three electronics and three woodwind players. The electronics are have two different sound sources. The first sound source is guitar pick ups (which have been soldered to a jack lead) which are injected into a mixing desk. The gain of the channel of the mixing desk that the guitar pick up is connected to, is set to a high volume. This makes the guitar pick up’s electro-magnetic coil very sensitive and thus able to amplify metal objects deep within a vessel, for example, a fan’s motor. In this case, the high-gain pick up is placed on various iMac computers where the sounds of the inside of the computers are amplified;for example, the hard drive fan’s motor. I made note of the places on the computer where the pick-up’s contact made sounds that I resonated with and then composed music using these sounds. The second form of electronics is created by input to output connections on a mixing desk, creating a continuous and evolving sound loop. These oscillations can be controlled by the various pots on the desk, creating eclectic variations of the sounds produced. In this piece, I used it mainly in a sound-art style, creating delicate and intimate sounds. The woodwind accompaniment (saxophones and clarinets) provides complementary sonic variation to the piece, through textural counterpoint provided by both conventional and extended techniques. The electronics and woodwind are amplified through an audio interface and computer where digital processing is applied to their sounds. The processing is to emphasise these sound sources and thus extend their sonic potential.
