His talk poses some very interesting insights about the impact of digital media on our understanding of a brand, the branding process, and how organisations - be it public or private enterprise, small, medium or large, respect the role of community - people and their social networks - in the branding process.

Brands emerge over time, through interaction, from community. :-) A brand is more than a logo or creative visual image. His example of 'google search' is pure example of this. The digital creative - those that get the socio-digital space, that live and work in it, offer organisations incredible insight into the 'lived multiple identities' of a brand.

Links/discussion about guides for Digital Media Use to help in the formation of organisational guidelines. you'll note I've not used the words 'policy' or 'governance.' Social technologies are about sharing, not controlling and 'guidelines' offer more flexibility in the ways we work with and through digital social media than policies.

When managing Digital Media in any sector it is important to remain aware of differing trends and research. Digital moves very quickly, as do the users of it - be that audience, actor, director, writer. Research can aid the process for more informed decision making in what you spend your budget on and/or how you design for the use of digital media.

These reports often come from many differing sources - be that professional associations, business/consultants or funding councils. However finding them can be difficult. Assess their value another issue. Couple this with the proliferation of the web and the complexity of most website structures, finding them can be difficult.

So ... why not share and comment on them?

Where does 'communications end' and 'production start' with digital media?tag:community.nationaltheatrewales.org,2011-07-16:3152760:Topic:660252011-07-16T23:19:25.221ZKelly Pagehttps://community.nationaltheatrewales.org/profile/KellyPage

As a result where/by whom should digital be managed? A communications team or the production team? Is digital media blurring the lines?

So the blog post you read before a performance or a YouTube video you might watch is part of the overall cultural experience.

This perhaps has implications for how we think about digital media throughout the creative processes for the production of a performance - be it in communications, digital dissemination (simulcast) or as part of the performance ...

From a digital audiences perspective ... the performances starts way before opening night, and continues long-time after the final curtain :-)

What does this mean for how we manage digital in Arts organisations? Should digital be managed by our communications peeps or the production team, or both?
Where can you go to learn more about digital media?tag:community.nationaltheatrewales.org,2011-07-16:3152760:Topic:662092011-07-16T22:26:30.369ZKelly Pagehttps://community.nationaltheatrewales.org/profile/KellyPage

Where can I get information or learn how to use digital media or example of digital media in the arts. One of the best ways to learn is to learn through experience. But it is also good to read about it, talk to others in the sector, and also people not in the industry.

I'm yet to find a good directory of resources, but through what better place than here to start sharing some resources. Please add yours so we can develop a list of resources we can all learn from, be that blogs, blog…

What are some examples of Digital in the Arts we often talk about that we can/do learn from? I call these 'Case Insights' as they give us insight into what other organizations are doing in the sector - good and not so good examples we can all learn from.
