WalesLab information

WalesLab was NTW's initiative for supporting emerging artists and new ideas for performance. This is a group and discussion forum for those artists involved in WalesLab or those interested in learning more about the various projects under development.

WalesLab consisted of:

Summercamp:

A summer camp for up to twenty theatre makers and artists of varied experience to share ideas, learn form each other and stimulate new collaborations and projects (watch the video below to find out more).

WalesLab projects -

Small groups working for around 1-2 weeks based somewhere in Wales.

Germinate:    Three times a year small groups of artists will be offered the opportunity to spend around two weeks somewhere in Wales developing an idea or project which they have already begun working on, and will share their work with a local audience. There will be three Germinate projects a year, one of which will have an international element.

WalesLab is no longer open for new submissions. Have a look at the 'Your Work' page on the NTW website to find out about how to share your ideas with the company.

We are off to Battersea Arts Centre next month, to talk about the future of Artist Development across the UK at an event called All Tomorrow's Theatre.

There's information here if you are interested in coming along to join the conversation.

I think there is a need for paying attention to new writing, actors and people of all talents in the regions of Wales.  All age groups should be included.  There are municipal theatres with the usual pop groups, comedians mediums etc., Amateur dramatic and 'operatic' society but theatre from the people which reflects their aspirations, customs lifestyles etc., is certainly important to get away from the increasingly homogenised stuff we seem to be offered

I really would like to see more workshops held on a regional basis.  On writing, organisational skills, producing drama and getting generally involved with the local community.  As a TEAM member I will be shortly organising a new writer/perfomance in Swansea with an historical theme.  Anyone interested in the Swansea are please contact me.  Actors, writers etc.,

Hullo all, my solo performance Worse Things Happen runs this week at Chapter 10-12 March. It's a show exploring depression and mental health stigma and it had its beginnings at WalesLab Summercamp in 2014. There's a ticket offer for the Saturday matinee - £6 if you quote "MindCymru" when booking - and that particular performance is raising funds for Mind Cymru. Hope to see you there. Thanks. http://www.chapter.org/worse-things-happen
