What I do:
Hello! I'm Andrew, Creative Producer for Sheffield Theatres, and also a freelance director/facilitating artist. I used to work for the Sherman and keep close links with my friends and colleagues in Wales... I'm currently developing ideas for a performance project with Cardiff-based choreographer Caroline Lamb and her company Striking Attitudes.

Originally from Belfast, I've worked as a director and theatre maker around the UK and Europe for fifteen years. I enjoy making new theatre that brings artists from different backgrounds together and which seeks to explore how we engage with society and the world around us. My work fuses words, images, live music, digital animation and movement.

I've been Creative Producer for Sheffield Theatres since October 2010, with a remit that focuses on new work and local communities. My first full production as director for the company will be in autumn 2011.

I was previously Director of pioneering interdisciplinary company Chol Theatre 2006-2010; Artistic Director of Theatre in the Mill, Bradford, from 1999-2003 with a focus on pioneering new work, and the National Student Drama Festival from 2003-2006, a powerhouse of emerging British theatre. I have also worked for the Sherman Theatre, Pilot Theatre, National Theatre Studio, Plymouth Theatre Royal, West Lothian Youth Theatre, Ulster Association of Youth Drama and was lead facilitating artist for Arts Council England’s Young People’s Participatory Theatre project from 2006-2008.

My regular interests include theatre and music of all types, travel, visual art, movies, heritage, going out on the town with friends - and cycling when the weather’s good enough!
