Profile Information

What I do:
Painter, Gallery curator
A little more about me:
I took over St Johns Church Hall when the theatre company finished their project in Barmouth. For 3 years I and another artist, have been renting the space from its owner, as a studio and gallery. I had not been inside the building until the theatre company used it as their headquarters, and the starting place for the performance.
Location:
ST JOHNS CHURCH HALL. Barmouth.
Projects I’m working on:
A great wall, comprising of 24 canvases, filling the north wall of the hall. 3 years in the making, now nearly complete. The plan is to start work now on the ceiling. The painting has two doors opening within it, and would make a very interesting background to a performance. I have some ideas that i would like to discuss. The wall can be seen on the website.

This message is directed to Mathilde.
Barry Lym, the Barmouth musicion, suggested I contact you in connection with an idea I have brewing. It consists of combining theatre and/or puppetry and dance with a painting. I wonder if it could be done, I wonder if it has ever been done?
The setting, initially, would be st johns church hall which we are in the process of buying and preserving as ’A centre for the creative mind’. 2 doors in my large cosmology painting enable actors to emerge from the corridor into an area in front of the huge painting. In front of the painting there is an open space for performance. At the other end of the room there is a stage overlooking the whole room for music perhaps or commentary.
I have an idea that creatures could emerge dressed like characters from the painting itself.
those are the sorts of ideas I have the moment. perhaps if you think it worthwhile, you could contact me for a chat.
