Welcome, Clare Parry-Jones!

Profile Information

What I do:
Actor, Artist, Clown, Facilitator, Paper Costume Maker, Performance Land Art
A little more about me:
I have worked extensively in Clown: in theatre, communities, site responsive and healthcare settings worldwide. I teach workshops internationally, in developing Presence, for performers, creative arts therapists and anyone wishing to challenge themselves in truly connecting with others. Over the past few years I have been exploring land art and performance, creating paper sculptures and costumes, working predominantly with water in all its forms. I have conducted research in Siberia and Japan, looking at Ritual Theatre, Shamanism, Clown and paper. I love working with the sea, forests and neolithic burial chambers in Wales and whatever interesting sites pop up wherever I am - responding to environments, people and their stories, myths and histories...
Projects I’m working on:
Out of Nature sculpture exhibition (October 2017)

R&D for my own performance land art and installations

Teaching at Hijinx Academy & Flossie & Jet performance with Hijinx Theatre

Live Literature project with Theatr Ffynnon & Literature Wales

Regular performance visits to children in healthcare settings throughout UK

A Bit Overdressed?

Within the first hour of my exploration of Rhayader during my Residency with PeerGrouP and NTW, I found myself sitting on a bench, in the sun, stopping.  And listening.  It’s noisy for such a quiet place.

The clouds above me were striped, like finger tips and toes that have spent too long in the bath…and there began my journey…30 minutes on a bench, with an instruction to find Smithfield Auction…mmm…Smithfield Market in London was my first thought - meat.  Sure…
