Winter's Weather 1

So I was in north Wales just before Christmas to take some weather readings. Today I've been looking back over the photos and notes from that visit, in preparation for a return at the end of next week. I found this photo, which was taken during an early snowshower, presager of the longer harder whiter winter weather that was to come. Just before it started snowing I'd decided to see how long I could stand the cold in just a T-shirt, recording… Continue

Snow Snow Snow

I've been seeking out different people to meet to talk with about the weather each time I'm on a research trip. This month I'm meeting a couple who used to work for the Met Office. This is the email I got back in reply to my request to meet:

"We will happy to meet you on Saturday 30th of January at home, if you’re willing to make the effort to come here. After 3 weeks of drifting snow, the minor road from Marchlyn to Dinorwic past our house (Garreg Wen ) has just been dug out by… Continue

A December Visit

From my research notes from December's visit:

Porthmadog, on The Cob, looking towards the mountains.

The arrival of the sky.

The whole sky (the clouds, the light, the mist, the breaks where the blue shows through) moving inland. What are clouds to begin with become ground mist as they reach high ground. Haze clouds hang still over the low tree covered slopes. The sky is mirrored in the marsh water.

The arrival of the sky. The arrival of later’s…

December Weather Report

I'm in Pentir just outside Bangor, in a lovely cottage looking up at the mountains (thanks, Rhian), here to take my first set of weather readings for The Weather Factory. I've been doing a lot of driving, taken a lot of photos, stood in a sudden snowstorm in my T-shirt trying to record a description on a wet dictaphone with chattering teeth, written a lot of notes, and had a brilliant conversation with Twm Elias, a lecturer at the Snowdonia National Park study centre and expert of Welsh weather… Continue

My Research Trip

I’m in Wales for the week, hoping to pin down an idea. What am I looking for? Not sure. What’s my idea? I don’t know yet. Where am I going? The Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia, Anglesey, the Pembrokeshire coast. What am I doing here? Looking at the light. Recording the weather. Walking. Thinking. Talking. Hoping to find something. Hoping to pin down an idea.

A forecast:

The week will begin in the Brecon Beacons, somewhere high up. There’ll be flat skies, a cold front (very…

Hey David Harradine.
My name is Tom Bow and i am a performing arts student at Coleg Ceredigion. We all have been assigned a project on the performances that the national theatre of wales are starting. We all had to pick one of the performances, and i was looking at them all and i thought your performance sounded amazing, I was wondering if i could have a small interview with you about your performance. Some of the questions would be, what you will be doing?, How you will be doing it and why? and also what the location means to you? I hope it will be ok and i hope to hear from you soon, Thanks Tom :)
