Time to save a theatre

Up here on the North Pembrokeshire coast, there's not much in the way of theatre. And the one theatre we do have, Pembrokeshire County Council is intent on closing - by way of council cuts. Theatr Gwaun in Fishguard was (from the 1920s) a cinema, and still is - but from the 1990s it was reconfigured with stage and lighting for theatre and musical events. Closing the theatre would not only deprive the North Pembrokeshire community of an important entertainment venue, but one which can bring the… Continue

Ah, I see - small world and all that! Are you going to Rhosygilwen for the launch? Richard said it would be a good chance for me to meet up with everyone.

I met her at the London Book Fair recently, officially I was there with Parthian, promoting another book they’re bringing out this Spring, called ‘Mrs D'Silva and the Shaitan of Calcutta’, it is a brilliant story, set in a school in Calcutta. We're trying to get money for an Indian screen adaptation. However, mainly I was hanging out with mates from the British Council in Kolktata whom I haven’t seen for ages and going to parties, apparently to make a film you have to go to lots of parties :-) Anyway at one of these parties, I met Penny and we got talking about your book.

I heard all about it from Penny and I said it sounds like it would make a great play too! I sent Penny some options for funding and told her to get back to me if I could help. Sorry to have missed your stuff in Swansea by the way, its been stupidly busy the last couple of months, did it go well?

Sadly not, I am directing a play in Huddersfield and I couldn't get there. I hear it was great. When's your book out? I look forward to reading it.
