Profile Information

What I do:
The Empty Shops Project is a community arts programme that will use vacant retail shops and turn them into creative spaces and workshops for all to see and do. In doing so we want to help regenerate Newport’s retail centre with ingenious, thought-provoking arts.

Our ultimate aim is to engage the general public with the arts and the arts with the general public (and have lots of fun at the same time!).

With support from Newport City Council’s Economic Development and Estates teams with regards to rate relief and access to the premises plus the invaluable voluntary help in organising the project; the Empty Shops Project is able to extend opportunities to artists, community groups and anyone who is interested in the Arts, to express themselves for free and have their work easily accessible to the public of Newport

Empty Shops Project is funded by Newport City Council, Newport Festival 2010 and Arts Council Wales.

Do you know anyone who might want to get involved with my project CareHome Lab?

CareHome Lab is an simulation of a care home bedroom and dayroom, in Newport. It has been set up so that designers and researchers can go through the lab and experience the care home scenario in a way they can not in real life...ie. CRB checks take a while etc...

Go here to get more information about the project www.carehomelab.com

I am looking for performers to play the residents and staff of the care home. This is an opportunity to fully immerse yourself in a role for (if you want to) up to five hours at a time. Although I am looking for a team of performers to do tag style over the five hours... so you don't have to be performing the whole time.

For residents: I am looking for fit and active performers aged 65+

For staff: I am looking for performers of any age.

As this is a try out for the idea...so I can not offer any renumeration... only film footage of your performance.

To find out more about CareHome Lab, please feel free to call me on 07947 363 541

Kind regards

Victoria
